MENTOR: Elizabeth Tracy-Schiller
Marketing & Communication Specialist at O'Donnell/Snider Construction
Length in the industry: 17 years
SMPS Member Since: 2009, Membership Committee
Why did you apply to the mentorship program? Throughout my career and membership at SMPS I've had several unofficial mentors. I've wanted to give back and help a "newbie" for awhile. I thought the mentor/protege program would give me a great opportunity to give back and share my knowledge of marketing and the industry.
What do you hope to learn from each other? I believe there is always room for growth and education no matter where you are in your career. Fresh minds leads to fresh ideas. I hope we become a sounding board for each other, for thoughts and ideas.
How did you (or plan to) structure your mentorship? Do you meet at the same time every week? Do you have an agenda for each meeting? We plan to meet at least once a month for coffee and/or lunch. Also set clear goals for career and personal growth.
What do you like best about working in the A/E/C industry? Throughout my career in the AEC industry, I've learned the traditional side to the proposal process in marketing. At my current company and position I've been able to use my skill sets and experience in marketing to strengthen our materials and department.
