How has SMPS helped you in your career?
SMPS gave me the foundation and network to build a 20+ year career in the Houston A/E/C industry. It’s the organization that keeps on giving!

What is the biggest benefit of being active in SMPS?
SMPS provides members networking, educational and social opportunities that will benefit them in their A/E/C marketing careers. Additionally, these activities provide invaluable opportunities for professionals to build their network and grow life-long relationships in the industry with trusted peers.

How has certification benefited you?
My CPSM certification has provided me a designation that serves as a mark of distinction, competency, and dedication to my career (and SMPS) as a Certified Professional Services Marketer in the A/E/C industry.

Can you offer a helpful hint to fellow SMPS members?
Jump in with both feet and embrace the experience. You get out of SMPS what you put in.

What has been your memorable SMPS event to date, and why?
Attending the check donation ceremony at Casa de Esperanza and seeing firsthand how SMPS has impacted the lives of the children that live there. Seeing the kids faces and how Casa de Esperanza and the house parents have dedicated their lives to these children has also encouraged me to find other ways to help outside of SMPS to continue making a difference each and every year.

What do you love most about your job?
After over 20 years, I can still say that I am passionate about what I do. Working with firm leaders to tell their story and position the firm to win work, build the brand, and enhance corporate culture is something that is invaluable. Every day is different and exciting!

What is the best career advice you have ever received?
I have been fortunate to work for some amazing leaders that served as advocates and mentors to me throughout my career. I can't pick any specific words of wisdom, but I will say that I can look back and see the faces of each and every person that has helped me get to where I am. Because of this I have participated in the SMPS Mentor Protege program as both a mentor and a protege. Its a great program for those who may not have a mentor at their firm.

What would you do with a year off?
Unplug and get back to nature. Spend time with my daughter, my dogs and my family.

What is your ideal way to spend your weekends?
My 11 year old daughter is always ready for an adventure. Our current weekend vibe is Staycation! Each weekend I seek out a short road trip or fun activity I have not experienced before in Houston or surrounding towns. Recent activities include attending the Scarecrow Festival in Brenham, visiting an Alpaca Farm in Burton, having lunch at Bevers Kitchen in Chapel Hill, touring Newman's Castle in Bellville, and riding ATV's in Hempstead. It really feels like we have gone on a mini vacation to get out and explore these fun places.

Are you bingeing any shows? Or what are you currently watching on Netflix, Hulu, Prime...
Not currently binging anything, but plan to watch Season 3 of Dead to Me soon. I have enjoyed shows like Ozark, Better Call Saul, Schitt's Creek, and basically any movie with Paul Rudd.
